Ryan Coogler of Black Panther

The Politics of Black Panther Synopsis: With the highly anticipated release of Black Panther, we have decided to do an episode to explore, alongside the director Ryan Coogler the aspects of this geopolitical action adventure film, that takes place in the made up, Sub Sahara African nation of Wakanda. Black Panther is a superhero who sees himself as a politician, as a leader in his country. At its core, the movie is about political structure, nation building, and policy discourse taken for contemporary narratives. Juxtaposing this conversation with Aren LeeKong’s investment experience in the private sector within Africa, will be amazing. With an opening weekend box office estimate of $165million, this movie will allow America to see Africa from a different lens. This can lend itself moderating a conversation on the U.S. relations with countries in Africa, regional intergovernmental organizations like the African Union and the economic community of West African States, and promotion of U.S. trade and exports. Guests: Ryan Coogler, Director of Black Panther. Aren Leekong, Managing Partner and Co-Head of Investments at TFO USA Limited, a multi-billion dollar global investment manager.
